Look at this face and tell me what you see. What catches your attention first? Is it Buddy's piercing pale blue eyes or his eyeliner? The orange tinges in his ears or maybe the small scar at the tip of his nose? For me, it's his eyes—how he always seems to be looking right into the camera and into the soul of the viewer.
It's a skill that only animals seem to have, and huskies are pros at it. The fact that Buddy can do it is amazing. When we agreed to take him from Enid Animal Control, Buddy was terrified of everything and everyone. They brought him to us and warned us they would need help getting him out of his kennel on arrival because he was aggressive. He showed up tethered to the backseat, no kennel. We got the first slip lead on okay, but the second was too much for him. Buddy tried to nip at Melissa, but we don't hold it against him. He was just telling us how afraid he was. As soon as Buddy was allowed to roam in the yard, he calmed down. He even went up to people for attention and whole-body scritches. The slip leads came off with no issue. He hasn't shown any aggression since.
He was just scared before, but you can see how far he has come in his pictures. Buddy is a confident husky now. He has emerged as a loving, cuddly, and fun-loving boy. Honestly, he's a bundle of joy. He gets excited about everything life has to offer—treats, snacks, toys, beds, people, and especially other dogs.
Buddy’s ideal home would be with a husky-smart person who can guide him on his journey. His new family should be active, providing him with the stimulation he needs to avoid husky boredom—because we all know what can happen when huskies get bored!
While Buddy gets along well with other dogs and is low to mid-energy, he should not be trusted alone with cats. He does have some residual anxiety, particularly around younger men, but with patience and understanding, Buddy can learn that even they can be safe humans.
