I spent all night smiling for Cassandra but hate she is still there till tomorrow.
I have a few questions to ponder. Not about why a shelter is out of control but why WE are out of control.
Who knows who this is?
Ruby met Boomer the other day. They are together now and waiting there at the bridge for the others who will also cross without getting their forever homes.
I am not sad for them though, because I know they will be there waiting for me to guide them home.
They will get everything I promised them. Everything.
Ruby is glad that Cassandra will be ok too but she, like me, is highly concerned about where we will house the huskies we keep rescuing. Soon we will be in trouble again and well, we are not going to let that happen.
Back to business. Back to Raise the Roof. If we don’t have a place to put these dogs then rescuing them and telling their tragic stories do us no good.
I am excited for Cassandra and cannot wait to meet her. We will tell that story too.
Stories are so compelling when they are in the moment and there is a husky in trouble and about to die.
Why does their story end there? Don’t forget that now they are here waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. In groups and on concrete, not in the arms of families.
There are 200 here that are just as compelling, they were just as compelling as the moment we all rescued them together and they are still here being compelling waiting for new homes.
Speaking of homes. I asked Bethany a question last night and I would actually like to hear tons of ideas.
I’ll post more about that this afternoon.
The question is simple. How do we find homes faster than we are rescuing?
Think about it and let’s discuss this afternoon. I’ll be LIVE with Myka like I said I would last night, which I happen to think is just as compelling as Cassandra’s story.
Myka already went through her pain and luckily she doesn’t have to wait anymore but 199 others do.
We need to answer this question. How do we find homes faster than we are rescuing?
When do we focus on the ones here?
The answer to that question is RIGHT NOW.
It’s time to raise the woof. This amazing person in Texas gave us a 25k match that ends tonight at midnight. I still have to raise over 10k and I am sick at the fact that it takes stories like Cassandra’s to make it happen. SICK.
We have 200 huskies here to care for. They are the priority right now and over the next few
months. I am happy for Cassandra and the 25 CA kids we will pull out in October, but for now, we won’t be taking in more than we can find homes for.
So I ask you again. Where do we house the dogs we rescue and where do we find homes faster than we are rescuing?
Please help us raise the roof. Next week we get to worry about yet another medical case that needs constant and immediate care right here. We need a hospital here at H3. We are trying to build one.
If we could put the husky killing on a break for a minute I might be able to keep up.
If the husky killing won’t go on a break so we can keep up then the rescuing will go on a break so we can keep up.
The problem here is that the compelling tragic rescue stories are what’s paying the bills, not a proper business plan with sustainable income and IT MAKES ME SICK.
The bigger picture is the priority. I cannot scream this loud enough.

I’ll post again soon with an update on my LIVE time.
